Jennifer is an accomplished Human Resources professional with over fifteen years of experience in the public and private sectors; ten of which have been in a leadership role. Her career has been spent in the manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and healthcare industries where her managerial experience has included both union and non-unionized settings.

Through her work experience, she has shown herself to be knowledgeable in the following areas: recruitment, employee relations, employment law, leadership development, mergers and acquisitions, HR compliance training, development and implementation of workplace policies and procedures.

Through her dedication and commitment to the HR profession, she has earned the following certifications of Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) and SHRM-SCP (Senior Certified Professional) from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).

With her passion for Human Resources and learning, she has had the pleasure of being an Adjunct Professor for Molloy College’s (located in Rockville Center, NY) Division of Business where she taught and guided undergraduate students on the topics of Human Resources and its function within organizations.

In an effort to give back to the HR community, she volunteers her time and knowledge as an active member of the Long Island Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 2008, and has served on the Chapter’s leadership team as the Membership Co-Chair, as well as the Executive Board while holding the position of Secretary, Vice President and is currently serving the chapter membership in her role as President. She also serves on an HR Advisory Board for a leading not-for-profit agency on Long Island that proudly supports the needs of individuals with autism, learning and developmental disabilities.



Laurie Langella SHRM-CP, CPSP is a SHRM Certified Human Resources Professional with nearly 25 years of progressive experience in various industries on Long Island, including Manufacturing, Healthcare, and Call Centers. Her current role is Director of Human Resources for David Lerner Associates, a financial firm in Syosset that has been committed to building and preserving the assets of its investors for over 46 years. 

Through her years of experience, she has developed a strong Generalist foundation of skills and knowledge, and excels in employee relations and development, recruiting, training, and policy implementation.  She particularly enjoys coaching managers as well as mentoring young professionals.

She recently achieved her Certified Plan Sponsor Professional designation from the PSCA.  Her volunteer experience includes the SHRM Workforce Readiness committee, Hofstra’s Career Closet, the Syosset Business Advisory Board, many food drives, and supporting our LGBTQ youth on Long Island with Free Mom Hugs.




Rob is currently the Director of Human Resources at Piping Rock Club, which is a private country club located on the north shore of Long Island. Since starting in 2007, he has worked as a department of one working in staffing, payroll, benefits, training and development, and employee relations. Before then, he was a Detective-2nd Grade with the New York City Police Department. Prior to his retirement, he worked with the Applicant Processing Division for sixteen years, where he investigated and tested police officer applicants.

Rob has been a member of SHRM and its Long Island Chapter since 2005 and serves on the Workforce and Legislative committees. He is a graduate of Manhattan College with a BS degree in Organizational Management. A Queens native, he currently resides in Franklin Square.



Michelle is a seasoned Human Resources Professional with 15 years of experience serving in the Healthcare and Technology industry. Michelle is currently the Manager of Human Resources at VAI, which is a leading, privately held, independent mid-market ERP software developer and at VAI Cloud, LLC is a subsidiary of VAI and the primary provider for cloud deployment of VAI’s S2K Software Suite. Michelle, since 2020, has worked in fulfilling all Human Resources functions, especially focused on compliance with State and Federal Regulations.

Prior to her current position Michelle held several positions in the Human Resources Department at Long Island Community Hospital (formerly Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center). Michelle started off as the department’s receptionist, but quickly rose through the ranks, ending her tenure there as a Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist. Michelle was considered by her colleagues as the “go-to” person for any Human Resources related question.

Michelle has been a member of SHRM and is Long Island Chapter since 2020 and served on the Annual Conference Committee. She is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology.
