SHRM-LI Membership Categories
Professional Member
Individuals who are human resource practitioners, defined as individuals working in corporate, academic, government or public organizations where the primary responsibility of their work is in the design, development and/or implementation of human resource and or industrial relations programs/processes.
May also be human resource consultants who provide human resource/industrial relation knowledge and skill services and have previously been practitioners in corporate, academic, government or public organizations for a minimum of 5 years during their careers. Professional members shall be national members in good standing.
General Member
Individuals whose job responsibilities include human resource/industrial relations responsibilities in corporate, academic, government or public organizations although practicing human resource/industrial relations may not be their primary responsibility. Regular members shall be national members in good standing.
Associate Member
Individuals who provide human resource/industrial relations-related products/services to the human resource/industrial relations practitioner community or an individual who does not meet the Professional or Regular member criteria. An Associate member shall be the sole representative of his/her employer in the chapter. He/she shall also be a national member in good standing.
