Welcome to SHRM-LI
Happy New Year!
Happy New Year! As we enter 2022, I am honored to serve SHRM-LI for a second year as Chapter President. Are you ready to kick off a great, new year with SHRM-LI?
We have an exciting year ahead of us, filled with a new selection of chapter meeting topics and networking events. Your Chapter leadership has many new faces and fresh ideas for this year, and I am pleased to announce the appointment of:
- Kiki Orski, Programming
- Michele Rebetti, Programming
- Nicole Apollo, Foundation
- Briana Tekverk, Professional Development
With 2021 in our rearview mirror, we as HR professionals now have an opportunity to put into practice the valuable lessons we have learned from a most challenging year, in how we interact with those we are given charge to lead in our organizations, community and families.
This year the Chapter is introducing some new programs:
Peer Perspectives: this is a monthly virtual huddle of your colleagues to discuss everyday HR topics and share ideas and best practices led and facilitated by the Professional Development Committee. Our mission is to build a network and sounding board for thoughtful leadership discussions to help support the Chapter’s members.
SHRM Certification Prep Class: this will be a thirteen (13) week instructor led hybrid event to help prepare SHRM-LI members to sit for the SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP exam.
HR Mentor Program: This program engages chapter members, support professional development, and provide a venue for connecting human resources professionals in the local HR community.
Please be sure to check your e-mail for more details in the coming weeks.
In other news – the Chapter’s new website has been released and is now LIVE. This is the first of many steps for SHRM-LI to become more interactive with our members through the use of technology. Please be on the look-out for instructions on how to access the Member only sections.
An organization such as SHRM-LI is only successful due to the hard work and dedication of its Chapter Leaders and committee members- all who are volunteers. Each person who volunteers brings their knowledge, skills, and abilities which helps to enrich the Chapter. If you are interested in joining a committee, or want to take on a more active leadership role, please contact me directly at

Cheers to a great new year and looking forward to seeing you in-person and virtual at future Chapter events.
