A Note Concerning Honoraria

SHRM-LI has a tradition of offering educational programs centered on professional development that encourage innovation in the field of human resource management. We look for contributors who are willing to share their expertise without expectation of payment in the spirit of networking, a purpose for which we were founded.

Speaker Selection Guidelines

SHRM-LI accepts speaker submissions throughout the year for consideration.

When developing educational sessions for SHRM-LI events, our primary goal is to address the most pressing, current and emerging HR management issues. We aim to help HR professionals excel in their careers.

The Programming Committee reviews all presentations to ensure content is relevant and has clearly defined learning objectives consistent with the SHRM BoCK and HRCI’s Body of Knowledge.

Proof of Performance

Proof of performance is strongly preferred for all speakers but is not a mandatory requirement when submitting your topic for consideration. SHRM-LI strives to offer a balanced program of educational and professional development sessions and qualified speakers at our events.

Acceptable forms of proof of performance include:

  • Video recordings of the proposed speaker presenting a session to an audience
  • A summary of evaluations from a program the speaker previously presented
  • Chapter Leader recommendation

To be considered, please submit a presentation

In an effort to increase engagement with our membership, SHRM-LI continually explores new ways for our members and event participants to learn and be inspired.

Many of our sessions follow a traditional, solo presenter format, but we are looking to incorporate a variety of formats to include panel discussions, immersive workshops, and other interactive sessions.

Presentation formats:

  • Presentations: These sessions are typically 60 minutes in length and feature thought leadership from analysts and experts in the profession.
  • Panel Discussions: These sessions vary from 45 to 60 minutes depending on the event and feature an experienced moderator, leading a discussion with a panel of experts. Preference is given to proposals with moderators and experts (from different industries or different size companies) who come prepared with short presentations to enhance the learning.
  • Workshops: These can be either a full day or half day workshop held separate from our Annual Conference and allow for in-depth discussion and learning on new approaches and best practices on HR and leadership topics.

Given SHRM-LI’s tradition of using educational sessions as a platform to showcase innovation in the field of human resource management, we look for presenters who are willing to share their expertise without the expectation of payment.

Thank you in advance for your support of SHRM-LI’s efforts to increase the knowledge, skills, and competencies of our members.
